Academic Term Codes

Each term (semester) is assigned a four-digit code to identify it in UAConnect. Some terms will contain multiple sessions, such as Intersessions and Eight Week sessions. The following table describes how to decipher and interpret this code.

Character Represents Value Description
1st Century 0 = 20th century
1 = 21st century
0 = Term enrollment through 1999
1 = Term enrollment from 2000
2nd and 3rd Year 99 = 1999
16 = 2016
17 = 2017
18 = 2018
The academic year begins with the fall term. Use this for the term code.
Example: 2018 = 18
4th Term Regular Terms
Fall = 9
Spring = 3
Summer = 6
Regular terms are the major academic terms and may contain additional sessions, including intersessions.
Independent Study
Fall = 8
Spring = 2
Summer = 5
Independent study terms allow grades, GPAs and requisites to be met in advance of the Regular term.
 Century = 21st, Year = 2017, Term = Fall 9 (regular term)
Examples:
  • 1179 represents Fall term of 2017
  • 1183 represents Spring term of 2018
  • 1185 represents Summer Independent Study term of 2018
