Access

UAConnect access is granted to University of Arkansas employees with a job-related need for information contained in the database.  Security is granted by the individual offices responsible for maintaining the information requested.

All information contained in UAConnect is considered private and confidential, and is available solely for job-related purposes. Federal Law and UA Code of Computing Practices prohibit the use or disclosure of such information. Because of the importance that all employees review and understand his or her responsibilities under the law, we recommend viewing the short video Getting to Know FERPA.

Access for full-time appointed employees is requested through the on-line security request located in UAConnect. Faculty access to rosters is added automatically and does not require a security request.

Creating the Request

1. Click on the compass  in the upper right corner.

2. Click the Navigator icon from the menu.

3. Scroll down the Navigator menu, select UA SIS Security and click UAC Security Request.

4. Click the Create New Request tab, enter the employee's nine-digit EMPLID (University ID number) and click the Add button.

5. The Security Request is now ready for you complete.

Completing the Request

1. Click the Request Type drop-down menu and select one of the following options: Additional Security Request, New Request, or Remove Security Request.

2. Click the Employee Type drop-down menu and select Affiliate, Appointed or Hourly.

3. If Hourly Employee Type is selected, an Hourly Employee Agreement box appears with specific instructions for the supervisor and the employee. A separate box appears on the request for the Supervisor's ID. This field must be populated before the form can be submitted.

4. Select one or more boxes for the areas from which security is requested: Admissions, Student Records, Student Financials and Financial Aid.

5. Select the Career(s) from the options available: Undergraduate, Graduate, Law, Ag-Law and International.

6. Type a description of the access needed in each area's Access Requested field.

7. Click Save to complete the request. The Security Request originator receives an email upon submission.

Next Steps

1. Once the request has been submitted it will be automatically routed for approvals: 

a. Verification of employment

b. Departmental or college approval

c. Functional offices that have security requested

2. The Full Time or Affiliate employee will receive an email when all access has been assigned. The listed supervisor will receive an email when the Hourly Employee access has been assigned.

The UAConnect security request should be submitted to request access for any hourly or part-time employee. A special account will be created for the hourly or part-time employee and the employee's supervisor will be responsible for the use of the account. The supervisor and part-time employee will be prompted to read and accept the Part-time Employee Agreement when creating the request. A preview of the agreement is located at this link.

Completing the Request

3. An Hourly Employee agreement window will open on the request. The supervisor and hourly employee must complete the Required Reading and confirm they understand the agreement.

4. The Supervisor Username must be entered before the request can be saved.

6. Select the Career(s) from the options available: Undergraduate, Graduate, Law, Ag-Law and International.

Next Steps

1. The request will be automatically routed:

a. Verification of employment

b. Departmental or college approval

c. Functional offices that have security requested

2. The Hourly Employee will have a new username created. This account will be used only for the position for which the access was requested.

3. The supervisor listed on the request is responsible for the hourly account. The employee's new username and password will be attached to the Supervisor's UARK account as a secondary account.

4. The listed supervisor will receive an email when the Hourly Employee access has been assigned.

5. The supervisor can pick up the hourly account password by going to password.uark.edu and clicking Manage Department Accounts. After logging in, the hourly account will be found under SecondaryAccounts.

When a security request is created and submitted, verification of the user's eligibility to access the system is processed. Once the user has been determined eligible, the request is routed electronically to the administrator(s) authorized by the college or unit.

To approve or deny a UAConnect security request:

1. After logging into UAConnect go to the Navigator icon in the top right of the banner.

2. Scroll down and select UA SIS Security then click UA Security Request.

3. Select the Search an Existing Request tab and type in the employee's User ID. The User ID is the first part of the employee's UARK email and is included in the email that you received.

4. Click Search to open the UA Connect Security Request for this user.

5. Review the requested access. Make any notations regarding the requested security in the functional area note field.

6. Scroll to the Approval group box and select either Approved or Declined from the Dean/Director Approval drop-down menu.

7. Click Save.

Important! Receiving a message stating "No Matching Values Found" when searching for a request indicates that another approver for your area has already reviewed this request.

To add or remove an existing security approver, a Change Request should be e-mailed to the UAConnect Security Team or faxed to 479.575.2464.

UAConnect access should be removed immediately when an employee leaves the University or transfers to a different department. The UAConnect office can be notified through the submission of a security request with Request Type Remove Security, or by e-mailing UAConnect-Security.
